Changes at Headquarters

October 13th, 2005 by Tina Waldrop. Popularity: 5%.

When I was trying to decide what I would write here, I decided that the best place to start would be with some of the changes at headquarters.

Being a woman on staff for six years at a men’s fraternity has been a wonderful and sometimes frustrating experience. I have had the pleasure of working with some wonderful members and alumni, not to mention the Headquarters staff.

Over the years I have seen a lot of changes that have taken place, but in the last thirty days these changes are the ones that have affected my job and me the most.

We have had two female staff members pursue other career choices. Anyone who has ever worked on staff or seen the way the staff interacts with each other knows that we are more than just a staff — we are a family. We not only enjoy going to work but we look forward to it knowing that we truly like the people we work with.

I know some companies say this, but here at Headquarters, it’s honestly true.

The female staff may not have gone through ritual, but we believe in the bond just as strongly as the brothers on staff. I think possibly at times we sometimes believe in it more so. Anytime we loose a family member it affects us all.

Unfortunately, I have seen lots of members and non-members come and go, but I don’t think any of them have affected me the way loosing the other two Region Coordinators has. Not only has my job increased greatly but also my friends have moved on to other wonderful opportunities.

I now have some rather large shoes to fill! Hopefully everyone will be patient with me and give me some time to work out a system. This is an exciting time but also a very difficult time knowing that we are operating without two key members of our family. I hope to keep everyone updated on how it’s going.

Tina-Good luck with the additional responsibilities. I think you put it quite well when you said “The female staff may not have gone through ritual, but we believe in the bond just as strongly as the brothers on staff.” With caring, dedicated people, brothers and non brothers working on our staff, we indeed prove why we are the best fraternity around. ~Matt

Tina, I am sure You can appreciate how We all feel about the tremendous job You have done and will do in the future for The Brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha.

While the Fraternity is going through restructuring, I feel at this time while a leaner staff, it is one of the most dedicated I have seen in My 40 years as a Lambda Chi Alpha.

I am sure if there is anything any Brother can do to aid You, We will.

Thank You so much for being there for us. Even though you have never been an Initiated Member, You are actually an post facto Member.
