Chartering… crazy times!

March 12th, 2006 by Jason Hoskins. Popularity: 6%.

So I knew what to expect with the chartering packet and all, but I didn’t know it would be so hard doing a parallel task of planning the chartering banquet.

Here at UC San Diego, we will be finishing our last chartering standards on April 28th, 2006, as we will have been a colony for the minimum time of one year. Many are adament about having our chartering one year from our founding (Associate Member Ceremony), so I am the lucky one that gets to put together a banquet at the same time! It’s crazy times, but fun at the same time and we look forward to hearing back from the GHZ (we will be submitting our Chartering Packet this next week) with good news and our Zeta designation.

For those that are interested, we are tentatively scheduling the banquet for April 28th, 2006 at the Handlery Hotel in San Diego, CA. It should be an awesome event - with great food (choice of either chicken, filet mignon w/ shrimp, or a veggie option) and company. We have tried to make the event as reasonable as possible with ticket prices of $40/person or $70/couple… which doesn’t seem that bad since SDSU had their chartering banquet last may and it was $60/person.

Beyond Chartering, we are going strong here in San Diego… our new High Zeta will be installed at our next meeting and they are already going strong in our transition period. We also will be having many Lambda Chis on our IFC Board of Directors. What can I say, we have our act together:)

Beta, Chartering and Finals = Hoskins is busy for a couple of weeks… But that’s how we do things - Lambda Chis thrive under pressure.

Jason and all the brothers at Pi Beta (UC San Diego) did an outstanding job in achieving their charter in one year’s time!

It was a pleasure and an honor to attend their joyous and emotional chartering banquet last week.
