We’re Back … The New Colony at Miami University (Ohio) …
October 17th, 2006 by Ed Leonard. Popularity: 5%.Last week, I had the pleasure to attend the Associate Member Ceremony that officially began Lambda Chi Alpha’s newest colony at Miami University of Ohio. Having attended several of these over the years, I was impressed by the overwhelming number of alumni in attendance. In addition, university staff and parents attended. The ceremony was performed by the three staff membes who conducted the colonization and two local alumni. They did a superb job. The alumni then presented the new colony with a brand new painted coat-of-arms. What a great start!
Zeta-Upsilon Zeta was closed several years ago. Now, Lambda Chi Alpha is back at Miami! The university operates under a deferred rush system. So, this fall, the General Fraternity staff focused on recruiting a core of upperclassmen to be the first wave of founding fathers. They successfully recruited 15 men. By all appearances, this is a group of men who should quickly re-establish Lambda Chi Alpha and set the stage for successful freshmen recruitment in January 2007.
Starting a colony is always an exciting moment in our Fraternity. But it is even more exciting when we start a colony to bring back to life a dormant zeta. Zeta-Upsilon Zeta is a once proud chapter and I hope they can return to that level of excellence again. Good luck on your journey!
