Sigma-Upsilon Zeta at 30
November 23rd, 2005 by Ed Leonard. Popularity: 4%.In mid-November, representing the Grand High Zeta, I had the honor of sharing in the 30th anniversary celebration with the brothers at Sigma-Upsilon Zeta at Appalachian State University. The chapter has not celebrated an anniversary since their 10th in 1985. For many of the brothers present, 20 years have passed since they saw each other last. I always enjoy being the observer at reunions like these. To see how the years, since seeing each other last, disappear rapidly. To see how our ritual bonds the brothers spanning 30 years into one brotherhood, one chapter.
What made this weekend even more special is the new chancellor of the University agreed to become an honorary initiate. Can any chapter be more honored than to have the president or chancellor consent to becoming one of our brothers? The new chancellor is not new to the University, having arrived to join the faculty 20+ years ago. So, he knows the University well and obviously knows Lambda Chi Alpha well - or why would he agree to an invitation to membership?
What a wonderful weekend! Congratulations on 30 years!

The new chancellor is not new to the University, having arrived to join the faculty 20+ years ago.
